The Luxury Travel Book

The Luxury Travel Book story began in 2012 when founder Susie Marquis launched her city apartment programme. Susie has worked in the industry for over 30 years and has spent many years travelling to her favourite destinations – especially Cape Town, Rome, and Majorca – which make up her portfolio. She loves exploring cities but is not averse to relaxing on a beach once she’s treaded those pavements!

Susie has been joined by her sons Jamie and Freddie who, as well as being avid travellers, share her enthusiasm for providing a professional service to ensure guests find the perfect home away from home. The Luxury Travel Book team visits and inspects most of the properties in its portfolio, and for the rare occasions where this has not been possible, Susie works with trusted suppliers with whom she has an excellent working relationship.

The Luxury Travel Book’s love of city apartments originated from many trips to European cities and staying in small, but often expensive, hotels in the city centre. Several years ago, during regular trips to Paris, Susie and her sons discovered the joys of renting an apartment at the heart of Paris’s St Germain, and they have never looked back! Just moments from the deliciously tempting outdoor food market in Rue de Buci, their apartment was also close to an equally tempting choice of restaurants for dining out. There is no doubt that staying in a city apartment not only gives you more space, but it immediately makes you feel like a ‘local’ as you settle into your home away from home and familiarise yourself with your neighbourhood. The Luxury Travel Book’s love affair with city apartments has quickly expanded from its original collection in France and Italy (Paris, Bordeaux, Rome, Florence, Venice, Lucca, Siena and Milan), to Spain (Barcelona, Madrid and Seville), as well as London, Edinburgh, Lisbon, Dubrovnik, Athens, Prague, Vienna, Amsterdam, Berlin and New York. The Luxury Travel Book continues to expand their curated apartment portfolio to islands and beaches.

Susie only works in destinations she knows and adores. She and her family have spent Christmases in sunny Cape Town, South Africa and can highly recommend this as a destination for a winter trip. The Luxury Travel Book loves to promote local services in all its destinations enabling clients to fully enjoy and get the most out of their stay. The many extra services Susie and her team can offer ranges from airport/station transfers, maid service and chefs, to city tours, recommendations for art exhibitions, visits to local markets, cooking classes, wine tasting and much more.
